  Thoughts of the Keypeople

Hitesh Asher (President)

Hello All,
Hearty Congratulations to everyone at Unikaihatsu on achieving the ISO certification within the decided timeline of 5 April!! This process, and the punishment you have undergone, is a dream come true for the entire organization.
The achievement is not of an individual or a team, but that of the organization....and I am proud that you all share this event today as a TEAM. The Team....that toiled hard for days and nights, weekdays and weekends, devoting your personal time as well for this activity more often then required, and finally achieved the objective.
You are indeed a great team having exhibited professionalism and team work, rising to the occasion demanded within the organization, at all levels, to perform and demonstrate that 'WE CAN DO IT'....It reminds me of the saying 'IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, THEN YOU CAN DO IT'.....and what more to say, WE INDEED DID IT!!!
I specially thank and appreciate the efforts of QMS Team, all the PLs, PMs and their team members to brainstorm and write effective SOPs, and the Internal Audit Team to raise NCs!!!
QMS was formed June last year, when ISO Certification was 'one' of the many items in the List of 'To Do' activities.... Obviously, this impossible 'To Do' item gave room to many 'day dreamers' and 'hard talkers' too!!
QMS Team had lot of work to do. In other words, lot of 'mess' to clean....At that point in time, any QMS member would have thought : 'No matter whatever this ISO Certification initiative would lead to, it was clear that we have to work hard'. For all these members, ....Anita, Bipin, Payal and Mousmi, the road ahead was tough and lot to strive for...
We got able leadership under Anita and lot of guidance under Mr. Jayant Singh. They never let the focus target got off their minds, neither let others do it!! The period of January to March was perhaps filled with lot of 'eye openers'...and QMS team also learnt a lot in the process.
Occasion demanded that others too help the QMS in writing the SOPs...Naved, Rajan, Ankush, Tabrez, Prem, Sangeeta, Ravi, Meenal, Trupti, Sachin, Rohan, Deven, Amit, Darshan, Namrata...you all did a good job !!! Thanks to you guys, for really making ISO Certification happen in Unikaihatsu!
Also, many thanks all the internal auditors for their unbiased role played in the Internal audit....the fact that this team pierced apart the present processes and made a detailed evaluation of each Incharge person was remarkable!!! Once again, you showed the ability - each individual forming a team and work towards the goal...'Continuous Improvement in Quality'.
You all have worked very hard for past few weeks, and I really feel like missing a major event in India. Please treat this as my personal expression of appreciation for each member of the wonderful team...You are, and will be, a part of Unikaihatsu history....
Getting ISO Certification is first step towards proving that we are a 'Quality' organization. We have just learnt how to 'step' in this direction and accepted as a 'matured', quality minded organization. There are many more steps to trod in this direction...The journey has just begun...and we have a long way to go!!! Do keep up the good work relentlessly, with the same high spirits. We will be moving towards tougher rounds of Quality processes, and each of you, as a part of the organization, will need to play very important role, time and again, on continuous basis.
Do celebrate this occasion hard!!! Party harder before moving to next stage of Quality!!
Unikaihatsu has a long way to go! Wishing you all the best to be a part of future endeavors!

I welcome everybody to celebrate our achievement of getting recommended for ISO 9001-2000 certification by our auditor. We are able to achieve this with your combined efforts and commitment towards work and organization. Just before the audit, pressure felt by all especially QMS, Admin, HR, and Hardware groups, was enormous. Pains taken has given results by having documented processes and it's awareness within the organization. I don't see certification only as an achievement unless it is implemented.
ISO Certification is first step towards quality, implementing it religiously may be tough, but not impossible. Problems will come during implementation and will be empowered. I want to thank
Mr. Jayant Singh for his continuous guidance, QMS group (Anita san, Bipin, Payal) for generating awareness and all other group members for devoting their time and commitment.
Let us join hands to achieve the quality objectives set against us and reach new targets.

Firstly want to thank all the members of UKS for providing helping hand towards the targeted goal of ISO 9001:2000. Certainly this task was not achievable without any assistance from you all. As our MR have provided almost all the details to you all about the ISO Certification and QMS role for now and future with the task done till now and to be done in future. I will explain a small theory of problem solving. This theory is efficient theory enough to figure out the exact nerve point of problem.
Before we go further to understand the theory lets be aware of the fact that 'ANY PROBLEM HAVE ONLY ONE ROOT CAUSE'. And when this Root cause is sited we see problem. Where by in QMS terms this problem is logged in as Non-Conformity.
Now lets know some key points of the theory named as 'Fish Bone analysis', an efficient way to derive at root cause of problem after the analysis. This theory says that any problem may occur for more then one kind of root problems. We need to diagnose these root problems by categorizing them in 4M's. Where by 4M's are Methods, Machines, Materials, and Manpower.
As I have said Non-Conformity is due to only and only one root cause. And this root cause lies in any one of these 4M's. Suppose analysis of the Non-Conformity say that root cause lies in Methods section. Then as per the Fish Bone method we can analyze other potential Non-Conformity against other 3M's. After the analysis for other 3M's we derive at potential Non-Conformity grounds and all these analysis are then logged in to Preventive Action.
In brief I will say by the help of Fish Bone analysis we can come to know that
1. Each problem occurred have only ONE ROOT CAUSE
2. Problem may reoccur due to many other ROOT CAUSES.
3. This theory simplifies the problem and helps finding the real ROOT CAUSE and also sites other potential ROOT CAUSES.
Thanks to all members of UKS for their kind support during ISO certification process. And HAPPY FISHING using Fish Bone.

Firstly I want to thank on behalf of QMS group to all the UKS members to give Support and cooperation for establishing the procedures and achieving ISO certification. Specially the team of SOP Authors and Internal Auditors.
Management took decision of ISO certification around 5-6 months back. With the target to gain CMM certification, gain maturity in the organization and recognition among international market. For the same QMS team has been formed and assigning responsibility of MR to myself.
In last 3 months QMS team with the other members of organization has jointly put efforts to lay down standard guideline documents. This team includes members from all the departments and from all the functional area. Our UKS team with ISO Certification coordinator M/s Transcendent Quality Consulting has successfully established organizational processes.
We then have undergone BSI's Registration audit process to show how much we have followed the processes written in the Standard Process. BSI's auditors have appreciated our efforts and recommended us for ISO certification.
This does show that we have been taking first step towards our goal of CMM. Now let us all take second step and try to follow the BIBLE that is SOPs and other documents that are created by QMS team, which are needed to be followed the procedures.
Its like till now a Author was writing a book, Recommendation for ISO certificate has given indication that the book has been published. Now we UKS members as students need to understand the integrity and follow the process mentioned in this UKS BIBLE and implement it.
Till date we all have been struggling to come up with this BIBLE and now on we have to follow it like followers. During the implementation we will come across the phase when we will need some improvement in the BIBLE. I request all of UKS members to help us improve our processes written in this BIBLE.
This ISO Certification activity is a continuous process and improvements. I can correlate it with the KITE flying. Where you are aiming high in the sky and want to be there for long lasting. Efforts to be there needs improvements and mastery in the tasks performed by us. Simply saying Creating BIBLE is like having KITE in the hand. Now we should know how to fly KITE and be the king on the sky. This means more efforts are now required to be put on for implementation and improving current system of QMS.
Here with want to say that we now on have to prove our self with joint efforts and clearing through successful surveillance audits also. For the same looking forward to the best efforts and cooperation from all the UKS members so as a company can achieve CMM certification.

I would like to throw some light on how the change has taken place in execution of a project over a period of time.
Earlier the client was always in the driving seat and we had no say in the schedule. We don't use to create any high Level Designs or Low Level designs. No Bug Reports no documentation done which could be utilized in future.
But as the company's position strengthened, lot of improvements were brought in the method of executing a project. Slowly the emphasis was done on High Level Designs, Low Level designs, which started coming into the picture. The internal communication within the team increased and the ideas from each member of the team started utilizing. This gave lot of confidence to execute even intricate and big sized project like ICS project which lasted for 50 man months. The capability of organization has come a long from the earlier days.
This happened because everybody contributed in this direction of improving the pattern in which we use to work.
Now at present day, the things are more systematic, we can now think of UML, Rational Robo to enhance our working.
ISO Certification is one such channel, which gives us a chance to be methodic in the work. so lets be part of this opportunity to grow in all dimensions.
I hope we have still long way to go from here.

Hello Good Evening Friends...
Let me tell you its not at all a comfortable feeling to stand here and speak in front of everybody.
First of all I would like to thank the QMS evaluation grp for considering me for this kind of honor which could have belonged to my other friends in the team too. ISO certification gives us a reason to be proud of where we are working.

I was asked to share the journey I witnessed from the start of my career. It will be more of a Unitech's journey than mine.
Do not worry I will keep it as short as possible. Since we joined Unitech around 3 years back, it has been a series of constant development in one terms or the other which are worth sharing.....
For those of you who do not know that, prior to our Goregaon office our Unitech Staff use to work in Borivali Office, which was actually a combination of 2 apartments. There it was completely like a family. The systems were accommodated in halls, the kitchens were also converted in workplace. It was more like going to one home to another every morning. The memories of those days will still be very fresh in the mind of those who have worked there. When we joined unitech with a damage of Rs.4,500 to the organization. The sitting chairs were of moulded plastics, no separate cubicles, no premises with lawns. Then the organizations realized the needs of employees and from then the changes started rolling.... the chairs replaced by what we use right now...A good office environment. A good infra structural change was brought about.
Those of you who have joined directly here in Goregaon are lucky in this regard. They have joined Unitech in comparatively better environment. The things that bonded us from those days with the company was the work, learning curve and advantage of moving ahead in our careers on the basis of performance alone. Freedom to shape your own career. No rigid hierarchies.
Good friendly people working around...no ego clashes...even though long hours become an integral part when we are working for Japanese market. But then we have chosen to stay here. Lot of people do not learn more as they start their professional life. We in unitech as most of you will agree always get an opportunity to learn and improve upon our skills.
Apart from technical skills a foreign language advantage is something which sets you apart from the crowd and gives you an edge over anyone working in other firms.
Since then it has been a great journey.
Just moving from Borivali office to Goregaon was not the only solution to ensure development and improvement of company, but an initiative like this ISO certification was required to redefine the way we work. To improve upon what we are doing. I urge everybody that feel the changes that are happening...and are happening for better.
According to me we all should feel this significant change that is being taking place in the form of applying for some kind of certification like ISO Certification. ISO Certification is not the end of improvement. On the contrary its the first proactive step. Long way to go from here. Many things to improve. More certification to be applied. But the changes will be faster when each of us actively believes in the system and contributes towards the growth. We need to realize that each of us have significant role to play towards improvement. Its very easy to work in already developed environment but it is too satisfying and motivating to be a part of improvement. The choice is with us where we want to be. What we want to do.

Nikhil Karpe (Bilingual Testing Professional)

I would like to thank few people. Firstly Maitreyee san for giving me an opportunity to work I am not a good narrator as my other colleagues would be. Who would be following me in giving speech. But I would like to share my feeling with all of you.
I had join unikaihatsu 2 years ago. At that time I have some goals to be achieved.
One of them was to do qualitative work. In this tenure of 2 years I felt that from last 2 months when the ISO Certification achieving period was going on I felt that the work that was been carried out was in a formal and a professional way. Basically work can be done through any means. But the qualitative work is that which is been done through right process. ISO Certification gave an opportunity to work qualitatively in Unikaihatsu. Secondly Hiteshsan with whose help I could go to Japan which was one of my targets to join unikaihatsu. And thirdly to Anitasan for helping me to overcome my faults and my defaults.
Thank you.

Good Evening Every body !
I am really happy today not only because I have got this prize (for 4kyu Exam) but also because our company is going to get ISO certification.
Credit of the award which I got goes to Izumi Sensei because she taught Japanese language to us very well. Her teaching style is really very good, I am thankful to her.
Secondly I am thankful to Tsudasan and Kanekosan. During project work we have to coordinate and talk with them in Japanese so our japanese skill is improving day by day.
I am very much thankful to our company. During my engineering I never thought that I will get chance to learn any Foreign language, but in our company I am getting the chance to learn Japanese language while I am doing technical work.
Last but not the least are my classmates, to whom I am thankful, who made my learning process enjoying.
I am interested to learn with them up to 1kyu Level of Japanese language.
